I support both of Riccardo's suggestions. We could combine both
suggestions in the following way:
Each person could submit a post in the upcoming weeks (months) that
includes an explanation of why "with reference to his [her] personal
experience, formation, and way of seeing the practical development of
capitalism and struggles, why he [she] thinks Marx(ism) is important, and
[how] OPE-L can help" *and* a bibliography.
These posts do not have to all be written at once. List members can take
their time. I do think, though, that this would be a worthwhile exercise for
two reasons:
1) Since we are a group, it is important for each of us to have a
sense of each others' backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
2) I can keep a record of the days when each of these posts are
written and can then inform new members of how they can access
that information from the archives. This would allow newer
members to be more readily assimilated into the project.
If you don't think this is a good idea, don't send us your "background
post." If you do, then when you get a chance .... ?
In OPE-L Solidarity,
Jerry
