I suggest:
The best edition of THEORIES OF SURPLUS-VALUE (TSV) is in the International
Publishers 50-volme collection, the MARX-ENGELS COLLECTED WORKS, published
as part of the entire 1861-63 manuscript (vols. 30-34). TSV is about 2/3 of
these volumes.
It is interesting to note the differences between the more familiar version
of the TSV, edited by the Institute of Marxism-Leninism of the USSR and
Marx's manuscript. One important difference is that the important draft
outlines for Volumes 1 and 3 of CAPITAL are included at the end of Vol. 1 of
TSV
(pp. 414-16), which makes it appear as if these outlines were written early
in the 1861-63 manuscript. In Marx's manuscript, they appear toward the end
(vol 33, pp. 299 and 346-47). This is especially misleading in the case of
Vol. 3, because this is the first fairly complete outline of Vol. 3 and was
the result of his work on this manuscript, especially on issues related to
the distribution of surplus-value, the main subject of Vol. 3.
I have an unpublished paper on this subject entitled "The Development of
Marx's Theory of the Distribution of Surplus-Value," which you might find of
interest.
