In reply to 659: You make dogmatic statements, but give no argument
for them. You assert an unused road was made with "directly social"
labor. I say that by Marx's definition of "socially necessary" labor,
there can be no such thing as "directly social" labor--labor is
socialized by the exchange of the products of labor, including money.
The case of the book is different. Once it has been bought, its labor
content is part of social labor--even if I then throw it away! But
merely repeating that money at the bottom of the sea is socially
useful doesn't show why this is so.
