We continued discussing themes related to Vol. 1, Part 1 (especially Ch. 1)
this month. We also had two major digressions (on skilled labour and
forms of technical change). In the last part of the month there was a

December was a month, as the above shows, where we engaged each other
discussing a number of fundamental and important questions. It remains to
be seen what we will happen next. Many members are still on vacation and
others [e.g. Michael P, Andrew, Dominique and Gerard] are attending the
AEA convention in San Francisco. This will likely continue through the
first part of January.
II. THIS YEAR IN REVIEW (very brief)
In August, the idea for this project was born on the Marxism list.
In September, we obtained our own list.
Since that time, we have engaged in many important discussions and
continued to add members.
We began in September with a discussion of Marx's plans for _Capital_.
After a brief "brainstorming" and procedural discussion in October, we
began the "Working through CAPITAL" procedure proposed by Mike L.
We have been discussing issues related to Vol. 1, Part 1 since. We have
also engaged in a number of digressions along the way.
I believe that OPE-L is now in a state of puberty where we are still
experiencing growing pains. Will we move forward to Part II of _Capital_
now or will we decide to adopt an alternative or complementary procedure?
That question will be discussed, I expect, shortly.
