Dear Jerry,
I'd like to register a dissent from the idea of opening the OPE-L
archives publicly, at least until we've had more discussion of the
consequences. I think this step would inevitably change the tone of our
discussion, due to the "looking over the shoulder" effect. If individuals
want to write something based on these discussions, and put it on the
internet for public consumption, I don't have any problem. I view OPE-L
as a place where I can let my hair down, make mistakes and provisional
suggestions, etc, without having to answer for them elsewhere.
