Note the brand loyalty (Riccardo, btw, has confessed in the past to being
a Mac enthusiast).
No Marxist issue here?
Well ... IMHO, related questions of concern for Marxist theory include
the diffusion of new technologies, "choice of technique", technological
change in oligopolistic markets, barriers to entry, non-price competition,
advertising, brand loyalty, etc. etc. etc.
The specific question of choice of OS is also related to the pace of
software application development for different OSs.
Microsoft's policy of making Windows and MS applications available to
computer manufacturers at a low price is also a relevant factor since
most (non-Mac) computer users purchase their computers with Windows
already installed.
BTW, Windows NT requires more RAM to run than Warp (or Win 3.11) and so,
for that reason also, aren't "perfect substitutes."
