CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

A colleague, Steve Fleetwwod, Economics, Social Sciences, Keswick House, De
Montfort University, Leicester, LE1 9BH, UK; tel +116 2515907, fax +116 2532886

is editing a book on Marxist Theories of Money, I think he wants both
discussions of Marx'S theory of money, and/or of MarxIST Theories of money of
specific relevance to contemporary capitalism. He is a follower of Tony Lawson's
'critical realist' line, but not, I think schismatic about it ... .

I am writing a paper which will start of as a conference paper to be offered to
the ESHET conference in Marseille in early 1997 called (probably) 'Why Marx
didn't need a commodity theory of money' and will then be revised for Steve's
collection into something on why a modern Marxist theory of money will have only
a contingent role for commodity money. Steve hasn't given me a deadline, but he
accepted my proposal, which indicates the kind of timetable he has in mind.

Anyone interested should contact me in the first instance (as Steve is not yet
connected), or contact Steve by snail-mail, fax or telephone.

[Jerry, I hope I haven't broken any OPE-L protocols with this post? If I have,
let me know, and I will desist in future.]

Comradely greetings,

Michael W.
