Brief question for Fred:

What policies might democratic socialist political regimes take to deal
with the economic problems you outline in your post? You argue that there
isn't very much governments can do about the rate of profit (I'm not sure
I entirely agree with this, by the way): by the same token, is there much
a democratic socialist government could do about the productivity resource
constraint?
