Commerical workers used to be "lumpenprofessionals". Now, for example,
with modern technology we have considerable data entry for U.S. business
by people in other countries who do not even know English. Language
skills have been eliminated.

At the same time, you do have a "winner take all" distribution in which
a small number do very well.
