Jerry,
I'm surprised to see Dunayevskaya's outline from the 1940s on OPEL. I'm
going to propose a course in Marxian Economics at St. Joseph's and this
discussion could be very helpful for me. A few points and then I have to
run. First, Dunayevskaya had access to the Russian translations of Marx's
manuscripts that were unpublished in English in the 1940s, like the
"Grundrisse" and 1844 mss. among other items like Notes on Wagner, etc..
So in her debates on Marx's Capital in the 1940s she had a more
comprehensive reading of Marx than most of the economists she engaged in
discussion.
Her understanding of Capital went through a transformation in the late
1940s, certainly deepened after her 1953 studies of Hegel's Absolute Idea,
and took a new comprehensive form in her 1958 Marxism and Freedom. But still
the teaching outline has a validity of its own.
There is more....later, got to run.
