Although the issue that is being discussed by Chai-on and myself currently
primarily concerns the question of who pays for unproductive labour, I may
have left the impression in [OPE-L:3829] that I view *all* labour employed
in health care as unproductive labour. To clarify (and in anticipation of
possible objections), I do believe this to be the case. Where labour is
employed by profit-making health care corporations (i.e. capitalist
firms), some proportion of the total labour employed should then be
counted as productive [of surplus value] labour. As would be the case in
other capitalist firms, unproductive labour would also be employed.
