A small point re Andrew K's #4427-28;30:
Why are there all of those Professor Foley this, Professor Foley that,
Professor Foley the other things, etc?
For instance you could say Duncan Foley this, or D.K. Foley that, or DKF
the other thing.
Maybe I'm just spoiled since we tend to refer to each other by our first
names. Yet, the "Professor" designation, when constantly repeated, seems
to have an unnecessarily negative connotation. (On some marxism lists,
when they begin by calling you Professor [...], you can bet that an
intense flame, with shots from the hip against "academics", is sure to
follow).
This may sound picky, but would you like it if everyone referred to you
in IWGVT papers as Professor Kliman?
Perhaps I'm off-base here and Duncan likes to be called Professor Foley.
