A reply to Allin's ope-l 4625.

I have tremendous respect for (good) empirical work. My dissertation was an
empirical study (regression analysis, etc.) of the determinants of Black youth
joblessness in the U.S. So don't think I was criticizing empirical work in
general.

Rather, I was saying that *one particular* example of empirical work was a lot
of nonsense, tantamount to saying that shoes have no practical purpose because
they don't spread butter well.

Even though it is nonsense, I never suggested burning it. I never suggested
banning anyone from this list. I am not a party to the continuing suppression
of Marx's Marxism or TSS research.

When one "treats" TSS research as something it does not purport to be, and
fails to state clearly and honestly what its actual purposes are, that is
suppression.
