What are has some references in any of Marx's writings to the role of
advertising under capitalism?

Why was this subject not investigated further by Marx? Surely, although
the importance of advertising and marketing grew after Marx's time, it was
nonetheless significant during his lifetime. Was this to be a subject for
the projected book on "Competition"? How could it have fit within the
archiotronic structure of the "6-book-plan"?

PS: Regarding our lost post identification system, the following excerpt
of a message sent by the CREN Listproc Product Manager on 10/8 suggests
that there is hope yet:

Thanks for the note. This feature was turned off several years ago due to
concerns about violating RFCs by modifying the message headers of the
original sender. We have reconsidered this for the upcoming version
(8.2), and we will most likely re-enable it. 8.2 is scheduled to go into
beta testing in the next week or so, and it should be ready for public
consumption by the end of the month.

So, to answer your question, the ListProc versions from 7.0 to 8.1a don't
allow you any facility for doing this, but 8.2 and above will. I
believe CSU has an up-to-date support contract, so they will automatically
recieve 8.2 as soon as it is ready. ;-)

I hope this addresses your concerns!
