By my reckoning, up to the 13th there were 133 posts authored this month.
Only 7 have been written since and only 2 posts were sent after the 14th.
What's going on here?
Are you all taking a deep breath after the high-volume beginning to the
month? Or, are you waiting for another thread to emerge? Or, are you
getting ready to leave for the IWGVT conference in New York City? Or, are
there other reasons for this cyclical (?) variation?
Long-range forecasts for the weather are notoriously unpredictable (just
like long-range economic forecasts). In any event, the weather in New York
City has been unusually mild this winter (perhaps due to "El Nino").
Nonetheless, if you are coming to NYC, please bring some warm winter
cloths (don't forget gloves, a hat, and a scarf) and an umbrella. Perhaps
as the date for the conference approaches, one of our New Yorkers (which
includes Andrew K, John, Duncan, David L, Anu, and myself [not including
Ted on Long Island or Paul Z in far-off Buffalo]) can give a more
detailed and accurate forecast.
In solidarity, Jerry
