-------------------------------------------------------------------------
William J. Blake _Elements of Marxian Economic Theory and its Criticism_,
New York, Corton Company, 1939
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes:
======

a) hardcover

b) 746 pages (including good bibliographical guide)

c) On the _outside_ cover (of at least some of the books) there is the
(odd) alternate title: _An American Looks at Karl Marx_

d) On the inside title page underneath his name there is the following:

"Formerly Managing Director, London Scottish Banking Corporation;
Investment Director Grain Union, S.A. (Antwerp); Associate Editor
Magazine of Wall Street".

Quite an unusual background for someone writing a sympathetic
exposition on Marx's political economic theories (and a critique of
those who "attack" Marxian economic theory)!

e) Alejandro R told me recently that the book is available via amazon.com
-- but at a relatively high price.

f) Rakesh knows something more about Blake's background -- and his
relation to Paul Sweezy -- and could probably be talked into telling us
more about this if others are interested.
