I am currently intending to organise a conference in Amsterdam around 2001
about the simple ideas which I have raised undere the heading "political
economy of socialism", i.e. concretising the positive model of a feasible
socialist economy, and drawing the lessons from the past.
I realise this subject is not as popular with lefties as pontificating
about the evils of capitalism, but as far as I am concerned my topic is the
real cutting edge of socialist thought.
My aim would be to get a high level of quality of discussion going, and
bring together a lot of practical international perspectives outside of
doctrinaire Marxist academicism. If you are interested in such a project,
let me know. Maybe we can together organise a really pleasant, exciting
conference that breaks with the boring old moralising and sterile dogmatism
of the old left.
In solidarity
Jurriaan
