Super Bowl XLI to be held in Dolphins Stadium

The Fourty-First Annual National Football League Championships will be held this year in South Florida as the AFC and NFC Champions face off at Dolphins Stadium. Although the teams are yet to be determined, there is much anticipation to the event. Since the last Super Bowl was held in South Florida in 1999, the Miami area has undergone many changes in the way of tourism. Not only will fans be able to enjoy the game, but will have 50 new hotels to chose from, 30 new golf courses to play, and a brand new $47 million dollar theme park nearby.

Tiki Baber Announces Retirement

After years of uncertainty, Tiki Baber of the New York Giants finally announced that he will retire after this season. He gave a statement this past week which finally settled the rumors that had had been floating around. In most cases, players who chose to retire do so because their playing ability is either slowing or deteriorating. However, Tiki's career is doing anything but. He currently leads the NFL in rushing yards with 533, and last year racked up 1,860 yards on the ground. He has vowed that his decision will not affect his game play this year, and has not affected his teammates. In a telephone interview, Tiki stated, "It comes a point where your body just doesn't want to take it any more, you see other opportunities out there. I'm excited about the rest of my life as well as I am about this football season. So we'll see what happens." Although his retirement seems probable, he will not verify that is a 100% decision.

He is not leaving due to contract or money issues, but rather his agent has stated that Tiki has gotten "beaten up" this past season and gotten "bored of the monotony of the NFL." After leaving the locker room, Tiki Barber will most likely follow the path of many proven athletes and turn toward television broadcasting and announcing to prolong his career. After spending his entire 10 year career on the New York Giants, his motives follow a similar to Brett Farve and the Green Bay Packers. In a follow-up with the Associated Press, Tiki remarked on why retiring now is so important to him, "I think the biggest thing is, and I recognize this, most players get kicked out of the NFL," Barber said. "They don't go out on their own terms. Being someone who takes a lot of pride in what I do, I kind of want to go out on my own terms."

Willis McGahee Back in Action Amoungst an assortment of season-ending injuries around the league, Willis McGahee finally returned to the Buffalo Bills lineup after suffering from three broken ribs. Despite missing the last two games, he still leads the team in rushing yards and helped the Bills to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday.

Romo's on a Roll Backup quarterback Tony Romo for the Dallas Cowboys is making his name known around the league. After replacing Drew Bledsoe in the lineup, he has successfully lead the team to back to back wins and has even started tieing franchise records. This past Thanksgiving, he threw for 298 yards and five touchdowns to help his team surpass the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Assuming that he can continue his level of play, this one time bench warmer may find a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Tomlinson's rush to 100 LaDainian Tomlinson has been announced the fastest player to reach 100 touchdowns in the history of the NFL. He achieved this feat in his 89th game which was 4 games faster than Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Jim Brown. The Final TD came with 1:44 left to play in the 4th quarter as Tomlinson's Chargers beat the Denver Broncos.

Defending SuperBowl Champs doomed by defeat The 2006 SuperBowl Champions, the Pittsburg Steelers have struggled immensly this year. Starting with a motorcycle accident this past summer, quarterback Ben Rothlisburger has struggled with injuries and has compromised many balls by throwing career high interception rates. The Steelers are at a disapointing 4-7 and were shut out 27-0 this past weekend by the Baltimore Ravens. Their post-season hopes look grim.
