Summer II 2010 Re/Imaging Berlin
Art 120 (3h) Satisfies the Division III and Cultural Diversity requirements
"Re-Imaging Berlin" is a fine art, digital photography course. Students will research the history and location of specific historical documents, such as the photographs from the airlift of 1948 and the film of President Kennedy's (now cliché) "Ich Bin Ein Berliner." speech. Other location will include, Checkpoint Charlie, Potsdamer Platz and the new Reichstag. Students will travel to these sites via bicycle and mass transportation and re-photograph the area. Each student will create a body of images, which will be printed on a desktop inkjet printer for regular critiques. The final project will be a group of these images in a portfolio or book.

Students will be two to an apartment, (same sex of course) with each apartment having its own private bathroom with shower, work/eating table, balcony, and a small kitchenette with stove and fridge (with utensils, pots & pans etc). Each student has a single bed with bedding (students will need to launder the sheets on their own). Towels should be brought from home or can be purchased in Berlin.
