Configuring a listserv to reply only to the sender

By default, Wake Forest listservs are configured so that any replies to messages go to the entire list. This is fine if you are using the listserv as a discussion group.

However, if you are just using it as a convenient mailing list, you may want replies to go to the sender of the message. Here is how.

Getting your configuration file

Send an e-mail to listserv@wfu.edu. The body of the message should contain only the following line

get config listservname listservpassword

Within a few minutes you should receive an e-mail from listserv@wfu.edu that contains your configuration file.

Next, copy and paste this configuration file into a new empty e-mail to listserv@wfu.edu.

Insert the following as the first line of the e-mail:

newconfig listservname listservpassword

Find the line that begins "reply_to" and change it to

reply_to          =$SENDER

Send the e-mail and you are done. You should get a confirmation e-mail within a few minutes.
