PHY 711 -- Assignment #11 (September 25, 1998)
- Consider the Euler angles as defined in Section 29 of your text.
In most classical mechanics texts (such as Marion or Goldstein or Symon),
the Euler angles {\theta, \phi, and \psi} are defined slightly differently.
In that convention the directions of \theta and \psi are the same
as \alpha and \gamma respectively, but the direction of \phi is measured
relative to the body-fixed 1 direction (instead of the 2 direction).
Derive the equations equivalent to 29.7 for this convention.
