Consider the eigenstates of a rigid diatomic molecule having reduced mass M
and bond length R.
- Find the eigenstates for the case that the nucleii are identical
and for the case that the nucleii are different.
- Using the Fermi Golden rule, find expressions for the transition
rates between the eigenstates in the presence of a plane polarized
vector potential field of frequency w. Find the selection rules for the
two cases and discuss their corresponding spectra.
