  1. Consider the eigenstates of a rigid diatomic molecule having reduced mass M and bond length R.
    1. Find the eigenstates for the case that the nucleii are identical and for the case that the nucleii are different.
    2. Using the Fermi Golden rule, find expressions for the transition rates between the eigenstates in the presence of a plane polarized vector potential field of frequency w. Find the selection rules for the two cases and discuss their corresponding spectra.
