The plan of St. Etienne in Auxerre shown below was created in 1999 in a larger format by PROGEO, a surveying firm based in Avallon. It is part of an ongoing cooperative project sponsored by Wake Forest University, the Centre d'Etudes Medievales in Auxerre, and representatives of the French Service des Monuments Historiques. In the spring of 2000, Gilles Fevre of the CEM is preparing detailed profile drawings of each pier element that will be superimposed on the exisiting plan. The plan was created using laser surveying technology, and is consistent with the French national geophysical survey. The ultimate goal is to postion all the elements of the cathedral in relation to that standard grid.
