Adding Chinese IME on WFU's 2008-2009 Lenovo ThinkPad T61

1. Go to "Control Panel" and select "Regional and Language Options" applet, select the "languages" tab. Check "Install files for East Asian languages". You may have to restart your computer after clicking "Apply" button.

2. (go back to the same control panel after reboot) click on the "Details" button

3.click the "add" button in the "settings" tab, and choose Chinese (PRC) as Input Language

4. your text services input should look something like this

5. IME's properties

click on the properties button. Make sure the "Candidate option" "Prompt step by step" is checked.

6. Chinese would be added to your language bar (you may have to turn it on to show on desktop/status bar)

7. Language bar functions

8. extended support

you should be able to type in most applications. For the older/simplier ones that doesn't support, turn on extended support in text service advanced tab.

MSPY supposed to support intonation also, not exactly sure how you can use this features. Some undocumentated key you can use to filter out 1,2,3,4,5 th tones after entering pinyin maybe?
