"... Now two times faster.
New! Hardware acceleration for Intel® Core™i7, NVIDIA® CUDA™ and AMD ..."
Yes, it is really twice as fast on H.264
Test platform : Lenovo T410
transcode 3:56 DVD MPEG2 (146MB) to
MPEG-4 Files (iPhone)
24 bits, 640 x 480, 30 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Baseline Profile Video: 2500 Kbps
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 160 Kbps
X2 sp2 - 6:08 (70.3MB)
X3 - 3:08 (67.4MB)
bad news, it is still not as fast as HandBrake 0.94 x264 normal profile (612x480 CQ 60% RF:20), which finished in
1:45 (43.0MB) (can achieve 100% CPU load)
the parameters are slightly different obvious.
But not for straight MPEG-4, HandBrake's lead is even more.
MPEG-4 Files (iPod)
24 bits, 640 x 480, 30 fps
Frame-based
MPEG-4 SP Video: 2048 Kbps
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps
X2 sp2 - 3:35 (60.0MB)
X3 - 3:25 (max. 31% CPU load 61.3MB)
HandBrake (FFmpeg CQ 94.12% QP:12) - 0:33 (16.5MB)
Since it switched to doing .aindex and .vindex instead of stripping the MPEG-2 stream out like in older versions, it has been problematic for several version, audio may got out of sync etc. Looks ok on the one small 07:30 file I tried so far.
Youtube HD - only 1280x720, no 1920x1080?
new vimeo - 1280 only also.
FLV - no HD/F4V, onky 320x240, 640x480, 512,x384 (drop down menu is out of sequence like that order, same in X2)
no more MPEG-4 profile label Zune, added MPEG-4 HD (1920?)
