because of Windows 8.1 upgrade &| sysprep ?

it is not the need to mute and unmute bug in X1 carbon, doesn't help
reinstall video driver (hence Intel WiDi audio) no effect

another problem - option not available if virtualbox installed - https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/13066
