Splits and Mergers in the Socialist Labor Groups

 
Socialist Party 
Formed in 1900 as dissenters from Socialist Labor Party merged with SDP. 
Issued an explicit invitation to black workers to join.
However it soon showed signs of conforming to the AFL view of labor. 
 

Socialist Labor Party 


Repulsed by AFL. 
Attempted to form rival unions of its own. 
Split in 1900. 

 

 
Social Democratic Party 

Formed in 1897 by Debs and absorbed ARU. 
Viewed as rivals by AFL. 
Adopted a colonization plan for a Socialist nation in the West
