Course Description

Because of the very specialized nature of this topic, this course is taught by request only. It covers the basic function of scanning probes: STM and AFM, as well as the models used to interpret spectroscopic work with such microscopes. Imaging models for these systems will be discussed.

Course Structure

The course is taught in a seminar/lab style, providing some hands-on experience in use of the instruments. Grades are based on lab performance and some “written critical analysis of current literature” assignments.
