The Department of Politics and International Studies is expanding with thecreation of four new permanent positions (and two temporary posts). Six lectureships:
· The USA in the WorldPermanent lectureship (lecturer ‘B’ scale) – an ability to teach ‘Politicsof the USA’ is essential. Wider interests in the role of the USA in theworld, in areas such as globalisation, regionalisation, world development,environmental issues are sought.
· International RelationsPermanent lectureship (lecturer ‘B’ scale) – an ability to teach theoriesof international relations at both undergraduate and masters levels, withresearch interests in international relations, widely-defined, isessential. Applications from candidates with a regional specialismcomplementing our existing strengths are sought.
· International RelationsOne-year temporary lectureship in international Relations (lecturer A/Bscale) – an ability to teach ‘Theories of international Relations’ at level2 and to act as module director is essential.
· International Political Economy/DevelopmentPermanent lectureship (lecturer ‘B’ scale) – an ability toteach ‘Globalisation and Development’ within a wider understanding ofInternational Political Economy is essential. Research interests in areassuch as the international division of labour, migration, post-fordistproduction models are sought.
· Security StudiesPermanent lectureship (lecturer ‘B’ scale) – candidates will possessteaching ability and research interests within the field of securitystudies, broadly-defined.
· One-year temporary lectureship in Political Theory (lecturer A/Bscale) – a proven ability to teach History of Political Thought andContemporary Political Philosophy is essential. Applications fromcandidates with research interests cognate with those of existing membersof staff especially welcome.
Candidates who wish to apply for more than one post should submit aseparate application for each one. Appointment at Senior Lecturer level maybe offered to a suitable candidate for a permanent post.
