Welcome to the web pages of Dr. Freddie Salsbury's research group in the department of physics at Wake Forest University.

Our general fields of research are computational biophysics and biology.

Specific areas of current interest include:
  • understanding general aspects of the interplay of protein dynamic and protein function
  • Computational studies of the structure and dynamcis of mismatch repair proteins
  • Studies of the electostatics and dynamics of classes of redox (PRX) proteins
  • a growing interest in computational biology, especially in functional studies
These studies typically require method development as well as biological applications.

If you are interested in working with Dr. Salsbury as a graduate student, you can apply online with the online WFU graduate application form , and make sure to express your research interests.

Professor Salsbury is also a member of the Center for Structural Biology , and the graduate track in structural and computational biophysics . If you are interested in applying under that track, please indicate so on your application.

If you are a Wake Forest University undergraduate student, interested in research, then please send email to salsbufr at wfu.edu. If you do not receive a reply within a couple days then your email may have been caught in WFU's somewhat flaky spam filter. frsalsbury at gmail.com is an alternative email address. We have projects which should be of interest to computer science undergrads, and biology students interested in computation as well as physics undergraduates interested in computational biophysics.
