Mary Wayne-Thomas is a professor in the
Department of Theatre and Dance at Wake Forest University where
she designs sets and costumes. In her 30-year career at Wake
Forest, Mary has designed over 95 productions for both theatres.
She has also designed for the Winston-Salem Little Theatre,
University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Duke University, Parkway Playhouse, Paper Lantern Theatre Company, the Attic Theatre in Los Angeles and Manbites Dog Theater.
Her other professional credits include the Sanate Fe Opera, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Hartford Stage Company, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Barter Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, North Carolina Shakespeare Festival and Utah Shakespearean Festival. She has worked as a technical director, carpenter, scenic painter, property master, costume craftsman, tailor, draper, stitcher, makeup artist, cobbler, and armorer.
Mary has a BFA from Penn State
University and an MFA from Ohio State University.
