There is some good and fun stuff that has come out of Cambridge over the
years ripping-apart the mainstream H-O-S theory of trade, including:

* Joan Robinson "The Need for a Reconsideration of the Theory of
    International Trade"

* Ian Steedman _Trade Amongst Growing Economies_, Cambridge University
Press, 1979 (see, especially, pp. 3-7 on "The
    Heckscher-Ohlin-Samuelson Theory of Trade")

* Ian Steedman and J.S. Metcalfe "Reswitching, primary inputs and the
Heckscher-Ohlin-Samuelson theory of trade" in Ian Steedman ed.
_Fundamental Issues in Trade Theory_, St. Martin's Press, 1979 pp.
    38-46

(btw, the spelling for his name is Anwar Shaikh)

* "Foreign Trade and the Law of Value", 2 parts, _Science & Society_,
     45:3 and 44:1 (1979-80)

* "On the Laws of International Exchange" in E.J. Nell ed. _Growth,
profits, and property:Essays in the revival of political economy_,
     Cambridge University Press, 1980

On the Euro (Mike W's question in [2543]): have you asked Suzanne? I know
that she has been making speeches to gatherings of trade union members in
Europe for some time on the Euro. She should at least know if those
"theoretically informed" writings exist. It wouldn't surprise me in the
least if she has written some of them.

In solidarity, Jerry
