I agree with Alejandro's and Julian's initial responses to John. It seems to me that the distinction between physical depreciation, i.e., wear and tear, and moral depreciation of necessity refers to what's happened to the physical stock. In the first case its use-value has been partly used up. In the second case not. The subsequent exchanges have been a bit too much for my little head to follow. Andrew Kliman
