A reply to Jerry's OPE-L 4917.

Why discuss such hypotheticals? It didn't happen. No one brought
forward a particularly clear and unambivalent passage.

Fred brought forward some stuff from Part 2 that, as he
interpreted it, *contradicted* some other stuff from Ch. 6 (of
Karl Marx's _Capital_, Vol. III). He was able to "overcome" the
contradiction, to be sure, but only by means of a blatant
immunizing strategy -- the creation, out of whole cloth, of a
second profit rate.

As I have pointed out, and as you have not tried to deny, there is
no evidence for the existence of any such "evil twin" profit rate.
Its sole function is to shield Fred's interpretation from
falsification. It is a Ptolemaic added-on epicycle.
