To begin with, I am not the only person technically who can subscribe someone to the list. More significantly, we -- as I repeatedly emphasize -- are a collaborative project. As a consequence, after hearing from the (off-list) recommendations of listmembers, decisions are made even where I disagree with the feedback that I receive, e.g. in the case of recommendations for new members. It is unfortunate that Paul Z in [6713] and now in [6738] did not follow Alan's request in [6704] and my request in [6707]. I believe *you* have hurt the list by your decision to discuss the matter further on-list. I have learned much from Paul's posts and I think his presence will be greatly missed. But, OPE-L will not be held hostage to the whims of a conspiratorial clique. We are not "dying" despite their best hopes and pre-planned orchestrated walkout: we will continue! In solidarity, Jerry
