Re David Y's [6914]: Just came back from the Socialist Scholars Conference where I picked-up a flyer on "CHE GUEVARA ON POLITICAL ECONOMY" which describes a new publishing project of the works of Guevara by The Che Guevara Studies Center (Havana) and Ocean Press, an independent progressive publisher from Australia. The flyer reports on three upcoming Guevara books: * THE GREAT DEBATE ON POLITICAL ECONOMY: by Guevara, Mandel, Bettelheim et al (300 pages; ISBN 1-876175-54-0; Fall, 2002) * GLOBAL JUSTICE: LIBERATION AND SOCIALISM (only 88 pages; ISBN 1-876175-45-1; also available in Spanish) and *CRITICAL NOTES ON POLITICAL ECONOMY* This last book contains previously unpublished materials. The person that I talked to at the Ocean Press table told me that, among other things, it will contain for the first time his notes on _Capital_. The flyer also describes it as a "highly controversial book" in which there is "Che's major critique of the Soviet economic model and a challenging assessment of the economic experiences of the Cuban Revolution". (forthcoming in 2003) For more information on Ocean Press, see: http://www.oceanbooks.com.au In solidarity, Jerry Unfortunately someone has borrowed all my selected writings of Che in English. However you can read Che Guevara Economics and politics in the Transition to Socialism by Carlos Tablada Pathfinder 1989 ... See preface p16 for particular reference to his reading of Capital many times etc. Read his articles on Value, and on the Soviet budgetary system among many economic writings and you will become convinced of this point. The Tablada book is crucial... David Y wrote in [6887]: > Che Guevara - who studied Capital in great depth < When you write that Guevara studied _Capital_ "in great depth", could you provide some more details?
