I'm sure it's been done -- there is a huge literature on Benjamin
(much of which is in German). See the "Walter Benjamin Research
Syndicate" site:
http://www.wbenjamin.org/walterbenjamin.html

A good place to look initially, though, might be the writings of
Benjamin and Adorno to and about each other. E.g.

* Adorno and Benjamin _The Complete Correspondence_, 1928-40_
      (Cambridge,  Harvard University Press, 1999, 383 pp.) and;

* Adorno's _Uber Walter Benjamin_ (Frankfurt am Main, Suhrkamp
     Verlag, 1970; in German).

In solidarity, Jerry
