JOAO joined OPE-L over  the summer and it is my pleasure to welcome 
him to the list at this time.  

João Machado Borges Neto lives in São Paulo, Brazil, where he teaches 
Political Economy and Macroeconomics in the Department of Economics 
of the PUC-SP (the Catholic University of São Paulo). 


He is a member of the SEP (Brazilian Society of Political Economy) and participates 
regularly in its seminars, presenting works on Marxian Political Economy, especially 
on value theory (always in Portuguese). He has also written about the Brazilian 
Economy.

In 2002 he finished his doctoral dissertation, defended in the USP (University of São 
Paulo),  in the area of Economic Theory, whose title is 

"Double Character of Labor, Value and Capitalist Economy".   

His dissertation was written under the guidance of OPE-L member Leda Paulani.
