In an interview of few months back, Chavez admitted he'd been told it was a mathematical impossibility and that 8 million was a more feasible target. Since he had under 6 million with 78% of the votes counted, I'm not sure he'll make that. But, the campaign was so incoherent (for reasons I suggest in an interview due out in the December Socialist Review) that I'm happy to see he's done as well as he did. michael Michael A.
