Apr. 2008, 10:38 Thema: [OPE] John Milios Update Dear list: I am very pleased to be able to tell you that yesterday the U.S. Embassy in Athens issued John a ten year non-immigrant visa. This is an excellent result. The visa has the longest duration possible and we were able to obtain it without filing a lawsuit, which would likely have dragged on for much longer with an uncertain result. There was a civil liberties attorney in the US - with the support of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) - who put in a lot of time and effort to help bring about this result. John has received an invitation to address the June 10 annual meeting of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) in Washington, D.C. so he should be arriving soon. This is an important victory for the freedom to travel and speak by international scholars and is a defeat for the Bushites.
