Jerry.   Mainstream economics disregards, just as Marxists do,the social function of ‘disequilibria prices’, i.e. their usefulness for revealing structural breakdowns which divert the productive apparatus from the satisfaction of real preferences. Most Marxist interpretations of crises are based on the assumption that planning can eliminate uncertainty, but in doing so most of you are willing to abolish consumers’ freedom of choice. I’m deeply sceptical about these alternatives which only can reduce welfare and civil liberties.   Regards,A.
