Ian,

Marx himself referred to the law of gravity when he discusses the law of
value. The passage occurs in Cap. Vol. 1 on p. 168 (Penguin edition) where
Marx discusses the origins of general equilibrium theory, i.e. the bourgeois
conviction that "the market" can regulate the whole of economic life because
it spontaneously balances things.
