Conference Board "2008 Institutional Investment Report: Trends in
Institutional Investor Assets and Equity Ownership of U.S. Corporations."
Institutional investor ownership in largest 1,000 Corporations has
consistently increased from 46.6% average total stock in 1987, to 61.4% in
2000 : and an unprecedented 76.4% end 2007.

In 1985 no company had institutional ownership of 60% or above, by 2007, 17
companies had 60% or above, including six with 70% or above. The equity
market value of total institutional equity holdings increased from $571.2
billion in 1980 (37.2% total U.S. equity markets) to $12.9 trn. (66.3% total
U.S. equity markets) in 2006. an historic all-time high.
