This is a hard question to answer since we don't know what you consider to
be recent or how you plan to integrate these subjects into your class
(205?). Also, different instructors have different perspectives about the
range of readings, in terms of theoretical perspective, that they assign
(my belief is the more the better -- i.e. encourage students to think for
themselves by assigning readings, where possible, from a number of
theoretical perspectives). That said, here are a few possibilities:
-- Ben Fine _Women's Employment and the Capitalist Family_, London,
Routledge, 1992
-- Harriet Fraad, Stephen Resnick, Richard Wolff _Bringing it all back
home: Class, Gender and Power in the Modern Household_, London,
Pluto, 1994 [An Althusserian perspective]
-- Leopoldina Fortunati _The Arcane of Reproduction: Housework,
Prostitution, Labor and Capital_ NY, Autonomedia, 1995 [an
autonomist perspective, but difficult reading and few sources]
-- Antonella Picchio _Social Reproduction: The political economy of the
labour market_, Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 1992 [a
surplus approach perspective].
