Research Experience For Undergraduates (NSF-REU)

Researchers with NSF grants can apply each year for support of undergraduate students who want to be involved in summer research projects. In our lab, several undergraduates are hired during the summer in support of ongoing projects and, if their participation is of a long enough period (at least two months), they are often given time to design their own independent projects. These projects have been published as papers (authored by students) in refereed journals, and/or presented as papers at scientific meetings. This experience can often lead to further studies as a graduate student. REU's are provided with a generous summer salary, as well as living and travel expenses.
