SPSP Self-Regulation Pre-Conference
Ernest N. Morial Convention Center • Room R03
People arrive at countless decisions, actions, and emotional responses everyday - but how? This question is central to research on self-regulation, which seeks to understand how people manage their emotions, decisions, and behaviors given the numerous influences they face. These include social norms, relationship pressures, personal goals, visceral desires, and automatic impulses, many of which interact and compete. The answer to how people self-regulate - particularly in the face of so many potential responses - informs virtually every aspect of individuals' personal and social lives.
This first ever SPSP Self-Regulation Pre-Conference brings together a diverse group of distinguished researchers, who will provide an overview of the latest ground breaking theories on how people self-regulate. This will be complemented by a poster session and data blitz, which will showcase the latest empirical findings on self-regulation. This exciting program promises to shed new light on one of the most central problems for understanding human nature.
