Re Paul Z's [OPE-L3125]:
You comment that my remark to Rakesh that he should "read
Hegel" was "offensive" and that "your pushing is just another
form of dogmatism".
I beg to differ.
It is no more "offensive" or "dogmatic" than to tell someone
that is making critical remarks about Althusser without having
read Althusser to "read Althusser. It is no more -- or less --
offensive or dogmatic than to say to someone in a debate about
Smith or Ricardo or Sraffa who admits that s/he hasn't read
Smith or Ricardo or Sraffa to "read Smith" or "read Ricardo"
or "read Sraffa".
btw, I haven't read Spinoza in any depth and
-- following my own advice -- won't enter into a debate about
the influence of Spinoza on Hegel.
Also, btw, you omitted my "smiley face" to Rakesh after "rea
d Hegel".
In solidarity, Jerry
