Addendum: Besides, as soon as the Towers fell, the US government
was pointing its finger at bin Laden. Had he denied it, that wouldn't
have convinced _anyone_ in or out of government. So ... why _not_ take
credit for it? Since he was already taking the blame, he might have
figured that he should take the credit. It could be viewed as a low risk
tactical public relations move.
