No one would deny that investment across regions, 'capital export',
expands the social relations of capitalism.
But that is the point I'm making, that this (and similar) features
cannot reasonably be the defining element of imperialism for it occurs
significantly in countries that are not considered to be 'imperialist'.
E.g. Japan or China. In other words, imperialism is inadequately
theorized in this framework.

I support Dave Zs point here. I am questioning the theoretical structure
that Dave Y puts forward. I agree that Britain is parasitical and decaying
vis a vis for example French or German capitalism, and that the role
played by the City and the Rentier interest is a key here, but I dispute that
the use of Lenins analalysis of the Great War is much help to us today.
