  • Group Policy edit
    • To allaviate some network traffic, I created a GP that restricts authentication to Users only.
  • Novatime upgrade and environment redesign
    • To increase performance we are upgrading Novatime to the latest version and changing the design of the environment by adding a f5 load balancer, plus adding a second web and app server.
  • eIRB
    • Working with other team members, we are trying to streamline eIRB so that end users don't have as many issues logging in to the system.
  • Issue with our Domino upgrade
    • Our upgrade to Domino version 9.0.1FP4 worked, but this upgrade caused an issue with our encrypted authentication. We were able to isolate the issue within Java. It seems there were some hidden charters that caused issues with Domino. Removing those charters fixed the issue.
  • Domino upgrade
    • Working with our vendor, we are going to upgrade IBM's Domino server to the most current version, 9.0.1FP4.
  • FourWinds
    • This a new server in support of EMS, our room reservation system.  This application will take the data from EMS and display it on a monitor.
  • Show and Share
    • Working with Cisco to correct some AD sync issues.
  • Mac
    • Working with OS X 10  and AD to help support our Mac initiative.
  • RODC
    • Upgrading our Read Only 2008 Domain Controller to 2012
  • Alerton Dashboard
    • Adding a new service to our Alerton server.  This service will include MSSQL SSAS / SSIS / SSRS
  • Mac Pilot
    • Our campus is exploring the use of the MacBook  within our standard computing environment.   I am researching the interaction between our Windows infrastructure, the services we offer and how the Mac fits within this environment.
  • PowerShell script
    • To move an applications exported file to an external SFTP site so that a mobile app can use it to record the number of persons currently in one of our buildings.
  • CIFS
    • Exploring  EMC CIFS file sharing as a possible replacement or addition to Windows file sharing and quota management.
  • ADFS
    • Noticing that ADFS (Active Directory Federated Services) was not being used by many people, I started a conversion with our MedSchool team that lead to the decommissioning of this service, reducing the number of servers our team had to support.
  • Pistol2000
    • A couple of projects have come up this year that dealt with Pistol2000 (an application used by our campus police depart).  First we did our yearly audit of the server and its database.  Then with the help of our vendor, we completed an upgrade to the CAD (computer added dispatch) portion of the system.  I followed this up by arranging to have our Police Dispatch team gain access to support and training material supplied by our vendor.
  • PerTrac
    • Working with our vendor, I coordinated the move of PerTrac to the cloud.  Having the vendor host this service simplified support for our end users.
  • Cherwell
    • To isolate one of our business unit we chose to move Cherwell (a service desk app they were using) to a vendor hosted site.  To do this I coordinated the move of the Cherwell database to the cloud and setup a new server that acts as a conduit between some of our internal records and the hosted database.
  • EMS
    • As part of our effort to consolidation campus applications, I build four servers to support EMS (a room reservation system) in both a production and development environment.  This included two web / application servers and two database servers.
  • ESX
    • To help out with our ESX upgrade I built two host computers.  This was really more of a learning experience where I got to use some of the knowledge and instructions our ESX Administrator shared with me.
  • Helix Media Library
    • Having completing the build of Show and Share (video streaming service), HML became a duplicate service.  I retired this application.
  • KPMG audit
    • Working with other team members, I collected audit info about our Active Directory.  This info was then turned over to our external auditors.
  • Lenel
    • Working with IS team members and personnel from DeaconOne office, I helped with the creation of a new Lenel door lock environment.  My primary task was to create a secure SFTP process that would transfer data to and from Lenel (a security system) and Banner (an employee record system).
  • Mac Pilot
    • Working within a project team environment I have helped create a working Mac standard load prototype and documented the many issues we may run in to if we proceed with issuing and officially supporting Macs.
  • MatLab
    • I completed an upgraded to the Student MatLab application.
  • PowerDMS
    • Working with our police department, we successfully moved PowerDMS to a vendor hosted site.  This move should give our police better access to the application
  • Pulse
    • As an add-on to Show and Share (our campus video solution), I worked with our vendor to integrate this new feature.  With this feature installed we are now able to search for spoken words within a video and label who spoke them.
  • Stop Motion
    • One of our end users asked for a stop motion video of their setup process during commencement.  I was able to figure out a process and create this video using one of our campus security cameras.
  • RODC
    • I have worked several times with another administrator to create and maintain forward lookup zones and master server address for a RODC (read only domain controller).
  • SFTP
    • As part of our Lenel upgrade project, I did some research and testing and worked out a process where we no longer need to transfer data in clear text between a Windows application servers and Banner.  This is a big leap in our security initiative.  I tested both SFTP and FTPS.  We choose to go with SFTP as it was already a standard practice within our Linux environment.  The initial use of this setup will be for the transfer of DeaconOne card office data in Cherwell and door lock information within Lenel.
  • Show and Share
    • I have been working with our programmers to better integrate SnS with Active Directory through the use of an API.  We have been able to copy class rosters from another application and include them as groups within SnS for assigning video view permissions.  This is still a work in progress.
  • TMS database move
    • Working with my DBA and App Admin teams, I helped move two databases to our new consolidated MS SQL environment off our old environment.
  • WebCam
    • Working with our security team, I reconfigured one of our campus web cameras so that our police department could use it as a surveillance camera during an important event on campus.
  • Windows Antivirus
    • We chose to move away for Symantac and to MS Endpoint protection.  I was involved in switching out these services.
  • Video Tools for eLearning
    • As part of a team I contributed to the research of several applications for eLearning by the Counseling Department.  Show and Share, VoiceThread and AdobeConnect were all part of this research.
